Mysuru: Reacting to the coalition budget, Mysuru Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President  A.S.Sathish said that at the outset, it seems that Agriculture has dominated the Budget. However, the budget has also focussed on Industrial sector, with some measures for boosting the sector, which include more involvement of KIADB and KSIDC in the promotion of Industries.

Welcoming the government’s move of making Mysuru an IC chips manufacturing hub, Sathish said that this will help in creation of jobs. He, however, said that the hike in cess on petrol and diesel and vehicle tax will hit the industrial sector as well as the tourism sector to some extent.

Mysuru Travels Association President B.S. Prashanth said that the development of Brindavan Gardens was welcome.

Expressing disappointment over the budgetary allocation to the Tourism sector, he questioned the Government’s move to shift Film City from Mysuru to Ramanagaram, which is represented by H.D. Kumaraswamy in the Assembly.

Although he has no qualms about farm loan waiver, the Government’s action of taxing  the common man to make provisions for farm loan waiver was not correct and the Government should have looked at other ways to source money for the loan waiver.

Observing that setting up of another multi-speciality hospital in Mysuru was not needed at this juncture, he said development and upgradation of the existing hospitals would have been a better idea.

Pointing out that overall the budget was disappointing in respect of allocation to Tourism, he said that although the Government was getting much revenue from Tourism in Mysuru region, there was little provision for further boosting tourism in the region and also creation of more jobs in the tourism sector.
