MLA blames MUDA officials for site scam

August 25, 2024

Hassan: Chairman of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited A.B. Ramesh Babu Bandisidde Gowda has pinned the blame on the officers at Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) for the site scam.

Speaking to media persons, Babu, who is also a Srirangapatna MLA and the Member of MUDA by the virtue of holding the legislator’s office, said, the Officers are vested with power to decide on their own with regard to allotment of sites under 50:50 ratio, without tabling the applications before the meeting. Hence they only should be blamed for the scam, he said.

Referring to the allegations involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Babu said, Siddaramaiah is neither a direct applicant nor has he signed the application. The officials have processed the application without bringing to the notice of Siddaramaiah. Likewise, nothing is brought to the notice of either the Chairman or the Members. The action should be taken against those officials guilty of committing the irregularities, demanded Babu.

Whoever has committed the irregularities should be investigated and awarded stringent punishment. The names of all those who have enjoyed the privilege should be revealed, with the truth expected to come out in the ongoing investigation, he said.

Denying any wrongdoing behind the whitener marked in the application (of CM’s wife Parvathi to MUDA), the MLA said, it is natural to apply whitener whenever there is an error. With the scam under probe by One-Man Judicial Commission, let them examine, he said.

Even the BJP and JD(S) leaders have got allotted MUDA sites, with the nephews of former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa also being the beneficiaries of large dimension sites.
