Mysore/Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) gave health tips to students to save themselves from the dreaded Coronavirus.
Speaking after inaugurating a special vaccination drive for students, teachers and supporting staff of Government First Grade College for Women at Vijayanagar 4th Stage here yesterday, the MLA advised youths to take hot water steam, do yoga and meditation regularly to keep the pandemic at bay.
The State faced acute shortage of doctors during the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. The shortfall of doctors could be made by if youths pursue medical course to serve the society. “I will strive to get four acre of land adjacent to your college as sports ground soon.”
Dr. Appajigowda, Joint Director, Department of Collegiate Education, said the State Government has organised a special drive to inoculate all students, teachers and support staff on priority in order to re-open all colleges from next month. Teaching has taken a severe beating in the last one-and-a-half-years following the closure of all educational institutions due to outbreak of Coronavirus. To resume, offline classes, the Government has taken a decision to vaccinate all students. “You must all take vaccine compulsorily and tell your friends and relatives to get the jab to protect from the virus”.
Of total 766 persons including students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the College, 620 were administered vaccine till evening.
Dr. B.K. Satish Babu, Principal of the College and Dr. Ranjita from Department of Health and Family Welfare were present.
