Mysore/Mysuru: Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) inaugurated the office of the newly formed Hootagalli CMC (City Municipal Council) on High Tension Double Road in Hootagalli KHB Colony along Hunsur road on the outskirts of the city this morning.
The inauguration of the office comes nine months after the Government passed a Gazette notification on Nov. 26, 2020, making the Hootagalli CMC official. The CMC has been formed by merging Hinkal, Koorgalli and Belawadi Gram Panchayats, which have a combined population of nearly 57,000 according to 2011 census.
Speaking after inaugurating the office, GTD said that presently, the office will function from the rented building on High Tension Double Road. Pointing out that a DPR has been prepared on the construction of the CMC building at CA site No. 21 in Hootagalli KHB Colony, the MLA said that the report has been sent to the Government for approval and the works on the construction of the new building will commence soon after Government nod.
Noting that the Government has also been appealed to provide adequate number of staff for the CMC office, he said now that the CMC has been formed, it is the responsibility of the new civic body to provide basic amenities and other necessary infrastructure to all areas coming under it.
Maintaining that he pushed for the inauguration of the new office as people of Belawadi, Koorgalli, Hinkal Gram Panchayats (GP)and surrounding areas were facing a lot of inconvenience as the three GPs ceased to function following the formation of Hootagalli CMC, GTD said that the residents of the CMC can make Government remittances and transactions at Karnataka Grameena Bank located closeby.
Highlighting the services that are available in the CMC office, the MLA said that the residents and beneficiaries of various Government schemes can avail services such as benefits under 24.10 percent fund scheme for SC/STs, 7.25 percent fund for Backward Classes development, 5 percent fund for welfare of the differently abled, getting Birth and Death Certificates, Transfer of Property Rights, Building Licence for new structures, Licence for alteration of buildings, fresh water connections, new Under-Ground Drainage connections, Trade Licence, Advertising Licence, facilities under various Poverty Alleviation Schemes, Housing Schemes etc.
Stating that a HDFC Back counter has been set up in a portion of the CMC office, he said that citizens can pay their taxes and utility bills at this counter.
Asking the residents of the CMC and eligible beneficiaries of various Government Schemes to avail the services that are available at the CMC office, he appealed the citizens to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in their surroundings and also shun the use of plastics as far as possible.
MCDCC Bank President G.D. Harish Gowda, former ZP member Chandrika Suresh, Hootagalli CMC Commissioner Narasimhamurthy, AEE Harshini, officials and a host of other local political leaders were present.
