MLA performs bhoomi puja for Gaganachukki infra project

March 1, 2021

Malavalli: Malavalli MLA Dr. K. Annadani performed bhoomi puja for infrastructure development at the famous Gaganachukki Falls in Shivanasamudra taluk of Mandya district, at a cost of Rs. 4 crore.

At a function held here yesterday, he claimed that while Jog Falls of Shivamogga district has bagged the first place in list of popular natural  water falls, the Gaganachukki Falls of Malavalli has secured the second place.

The State Government has released Rs. 4 crore for providing infrastructure at this famous picnic spot. A proposal has been submitted to the Government for the rope-way and other facilities to attract more visitors.

Since Tourism Minister C.P. Yogeshwar belongs to neighbouring district, more funds could be expected for overall development of this place, he added.

Dr. Annadani said the Government has withheld Rs.1,300 crore grant sanctioned by previous coalition Government headed by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and the incumbent CM Yediyurappa was giving COVID-19 explanation for not releasing grants.

Since the Government was borrowing loans to run the administration, let them release sufficient funds for development of Malavalli taluk, he added.

MLC Appajigowda praised Dr. Annadani for putting pressure on the State Government to release at least Rs.4 crore on development of Gaganachukki falls.  ZP Member Hanumanthu, Taluk Panchayat Opposition Leader Somashekar and others were present.
