MLA Ramdas continues Padayatra

June 29, 2018

Mysuru: MLA and former Minister S.A. Ramdas directed the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials to clear the encroachments on the footpaths and not to give permission for fast food joints selling non-vegetarian food on the roadside.

Ramdas, who is continuing with his Padayatra (walking tour), began the walk at 6.30 am on June 27 from MCC Ward No.3 (now Ward No.48 after delimitation) from the Law Courts and listened to the complaints of the daily walkers, yoga enthusiasts and those performing physical exercises in the parks.

Later, he continued his padayatra and walked through Geeta Road, RTO Circle, Lakshmipuram, Madhwachar Road, Basaveshwara Road and a few other places. He heard the grievances of the public and directed the MCC officials on the spot to solve the problems.

Later speaking to the press persons, he said that every day many come to Manuvana Park opposite the Law Courts for morning exercises. Hence, a public toilet must be constructed close the park. There were also complaints that many come to the park to celebrate birthdays and while celebrating the revellers burst fire crackers, polluting the environment. Hence, it has been decided to ban bursting of crackers, he said and added that directions had been given to replace the streetlights which are broken.

There is UGD problem on Law Courts Road. The UGD water is flowing into the storm water drain. It has come to light that a few houses and commercial complexes are letting the sewage water into the drains. Including Geeta Road, several roads are in a pathetic condition as the tar has completely come off following cable laying on the road.

The road is in dismal condition since a long time. A library was built in the MCC property but a person has encroached on it. Action will be taken to vacate the place. And if anyone has encroached the footpaths, without any hesitation they will be removed, warned Ramdas.

Container for cow dung: There are complaints in Ward No.3 that cattle-rearers throw cow dung everywhere. They bring the dung from their houses and dump it on the roadside. In the light of this, a small container will be provided to those who are rearing cattle. They can fill the container with dung and place it outside their homes and the MCC staff will come and collect it, he said.

Ban on selling non-veg food: Garbage is being thrown behind the RTO Office Road. Besides, the fast food joints selling non-vegetarian food are throwing the waste all around and as a result the whole place is stinking.

The residents of the area are suffering a lot because of the rotting smell. When enquired, the fast food joint eatery owners say that they have obtained licence from the MCC and display them.

Realising the problem, Ramdas has warned not to issue permission to such food fast joints.

Seven years ago steps had been taken to fill the water to the double tanks in Lakshmipuram. Now, action has to be taken to repair them and fill the water. Otherwise, it should be seen whether the tanks can be demolished, he suggested.

Also, he found out that there are no Pourakarmikas in Lakshmipuram. They are brought from other extensions after 10 am to clean the area. Hence, he asked the officials to separately appoint Pourakarmikas to the area.
