Mysore/Mysuru: Alleging that Government Hospitals and Primary Health Centres have run out of medicine stocks, Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait has opposed global tenders floated by the Government for supply of COVID vaccines.
Speaking to presspersons after taking part in the District-level COVID Management Meeting of Congress party at Jaladarshini Guest House here yesterday, Sait reiterated that there is acute shortage of medicines and vaccines at Government Hospitals and PHCs in the district. Asserting that inviting global tenders would mean a delay in vaccine supplies, he urged the Government to allow localised procurement of vaccines under discretionary quota. Highlighting the disadvantages of floating global tenders, he urged the Government to come up with a clear cut policy on medicine procurement and supply logistics.
Pointing out that though 42 medical staff have been deployed at N.R. Covid Care Centre, only 36 have reported for work, Sait wanted the authorities to ensure that proper care and treatment is given at this centre.
Claiming that the district administration had arbitrarily shifted three out of the five ventilators that were available at taluk centres to Mysuru city, the MLA wondered who is to be blamed for any criticalities that may occur at taluks.
He also urged the Government to ensure that patients being treated at Government hospitals get Remdesivir injections at the right time.
Wanting the Government to declare the names of members of COVID-19 District-level task force, he bemoaned that he is being ignored for key meetings. He urged the district administration to ensure that Protocol regarding invitation to people representatives is properly followed.
The MLA further said that he would write to the District Minister and Deputy Commissioner highlighting the lapses in bed allotment and also give some suggestions on streamlining of bed allocation so that needy patients are not left to fend for themselves.
