MLA Vasu releases books

November 27, 2017

Mysuru:  Chamaraja MLA Vasu released two books — ‘Voices of an Indian’ and ‘Vignana Mathu Dharma’ — at a programme jointly organised by Vidya Vikas Educational Trust, Likhith Prakashana and Parivarthana Ranga Samaja, at Sri Rama Mandira  in Krishnamurthypuram, here this morning.

While ‘Voices of an Indian’ is an English work authored by Dr. M.C. Subbaramu, Ex-SOG, BARC, Mumbai, ‘Vignana Mathu Dharma’  (Science and Religion) is a Kannada work authored by Dr. C. Ningappa of the Department of Physics, VVIET, Mysuru.

Prof. A.V. Narasimha Murthy, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru, speaking  on the book ‘Voices of an Indian,’ said that the book explains how in the present day, caste, creed and religion has gained importance over humanity.

Pointing out that the book delves on Shankaracharya’s ‘Advaitha philosophy,’ he called upon the younger generation to develop a scientific temper.

Stating that there exists a connection between caste, society and politics, he said that this should not happen.

The book also wonderfully analyses the relationship between animals and human beings, he said.

Pointing out that it was Dr. Subbaramu, who was instrumental in celebrating Feb.28 as Science Day in the country, Prof. Narasimha Murthy said that the then Union government in 1986 had ordered celebration of Science Day based on a letter written by Dr. Subbaramu, now a resident of Mysuru.

Former Kuvempu University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Venkataramaiah, who spoke on the book ‘Vignana Mathu Dharma’ said that the work contains informative articles on modern science and religion.

He further said that the book underlines the point that the country’s strength lies in harmony and unity.
