MLC Raghu R. Kautilya demands memorial for legendary S. Janaki

July 13, 2026

Mysuru: MLC Raghu R. Kautilya has urged the State Government to construct a memorial for legendary singer S. Janaki and to institute an award in the name of the iconic singer.

Speaking to presspersons after paying his last respects to S. Janaki at Maharaja’s College Grounds here on Sunday, Raghu Kautilya said the Government should construct her memorial in order to immortalise her name.

Maintaining that S. Janaki, though born in Andhra Pradesh was indeed a Kannadiga as she lived in Mysuru for many years, he said that her last rites were held in Kannada land too as per her wish.

Reminiscing her many Kannada hit songs whose melody continues to charm crores of Kannadigas, he demanded that the Government should construct a memorial for the legendary singer in Mysuru, the city which she loved so dearly and spent her last years.
