Bengaluru: In the backdrop of delay in Cabinet expansion due to various reasons, the Karnataka Government has postponed the Monsoon Session of the State Legislature, which was tentatively  scheduled to commence from Aug. 6.

Now, the Session is likely to commence from Aug. 17, to accommodate an impending Cabinet expansion, it is learnt.

Although the State Govt. had tentatively fixed the Monsoon Session to commence from Aug. 6, it had not issued an official communication in this regard.

Though CM D.K. Shivakumar made a couple of visits to New Delhi in the past fortnight to discuss Cabinet expansion with the Congress top brass, the visits seem to have become futile, with the Congress leadership busily engaged in NEET paper leak protests. Expecting that the Congress High Command may give the green signal for Cabinet expansion, the State Government had reportedly even sent a communiqué to the Lok Bhavan on the swearing-in of new Ministers on July 23. But that did not happen as the NEET protests at Delhi gained momentum and spread across the country, with the Congress leadership getting directly involved in it.
