Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Literary Award conferred on Dr. Y.D. Rajanna
Mysore/Mysuru: Observing that Kannada literary world will be incomplete without the embodiment of political literature, MLC A.H. Vishwanath called for more literary works on politics.
He was speaking at Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Literary Award presentation ceremony organised by Devaraj Urs Pratime Pratishtapana Samiti, Mysuru, at Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road here on Friday. The award was conferred on Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, the Immediate Past President of Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
Noting that people representatives right from the Gram Panchayat (GP) level to Parliament should come up with their experiences on public life in the form of books, Vishwanath regretted that politics and politicians are seen as tainted in the eyes of the public.
Maintaining that this notion may change if people begin to read political literature more and more, he wanted the Kannada Sahitya Parishat to encourage authors who write political works.
Referring to the installation of the statue of former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs in the city, Vishwanath urged the Government to install the statue of the late former CM, who was known as the champion of Backward Classes.
Earlier, former Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, who spoke after inaugurating the programme, said that Dr. Y.D. Rajanna has been rendering service to Kannada for the past 25 years and has held numerous programmes.
Contending that the District Kannada Sahitya Parishat got a new look when Dr. Rajanna headed it, Dr. Mahadevappa said that the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana was held successfully in the city a few years ago when Dr. Rajanna headed the district Unit.
Veteran writer Dr. C.P. Krishna Kumar (CPK) presided. Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, Kannada activists Mugur Nanjundaswamy and Shivashankar, Urs Prathime Prathishtapana Samiti President Zakir Hussain, MUDA Member Lakshmidevi, Dairy Venkatesh and others were present during the programme.
