Virtual six-day MyBuild-20 begins in city

Mysore/Mysuru: The six-day MyBuild-20 Virtual Exhibition began at Mysuru Builders Charitable Trust auditorium at Vishweshwaranagar in city last evening. Owing to COVID-19 pandemic, the event is being held virtually this year. Earlier years, it was held at a sprawling ground.

The exhibition, a flagship event of Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysuru Centre, displays construction materials, interiors and lifestyles. As there are restrictions on physical exhibition, the expo is being held virtually this year. The event was inaugurated by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner Dr. D.B. Natesh.

The exhibition is beneficial to architects, engineers, building contractors, manufacturers of construction materials and equipment, interior designers, property developers, civil engineering students and landscape designers. It also benefits all those who are constructing or planning to construct their house as it will give them an idea about the available materials to be used and the latest innovation in the field.

Inaugurating the six-day event, Dr. Natesh expressed happiness over BAI organising such exhibitions annually to publicise the construction materials and latest technology in the area. “People who are constructing houses, interior designers and architects will have a wider choice of materials,” he said.

Due to the pandemic, builders are facing a host of problems and there is a shortage of skilled workmanship as most of the skilled workers have migrated to their States. In the near future, MUDA will organise a workshop for workers to learn the skills and the training can be provided by builders and those who are experienced in the field, he added.

Addressing the event through a video-conference, Suresh Babu, Director of Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project said that in organising such consumer-friendly exhibitions, the BAI was closer to people. At the same time, such exhibitions will disseminate information about quality materials that are in the market. This gives a wider choice and various options for the people in construction industry and also to the people who want to build houses, he added.
