Music Fest and Painting Expo in memory of Pandit Puttaraja Gawai

Mysuru: Sri Guru Puttaraja Sangeetha Sabha and Yashtel TV, Mysuru, have jointly organised a music festival and painting exhibition — “Bhairavadinda Bhairavi” and “Puttashri Samman-2018” — as part of the 8th death anniversary of Padma Bhushan Pt. Dr. Puttaraja Gawai on Dec.2 from 9.30 am at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar. The schedule is as follows:

9.30 am: Vocal music concert by Gayathri Sridhar (Bengaluru), Shanmukhaiah Lakkundi of Bengaluru on tabla and Deepak Nagannavar of Mysuru on harmonium. 10.30 am: MLA L. Nagendra will inaugurate. Release of the book “Sri Renuka Kavyamanjari” written by Prahlad J. Kattimani by Prof. V. Aravind Hebbar (Sr. Music Critic, Udupi). M. Krishnamurthy, Proprietor of Prathiba Enterprises, Bengaluru, will be the chief guest. Painting exhibition will be inaugurated by S. Swamy, BEO, T. Narasipur. Corporator M.V. Ramprasad will preside.

Puttashri Samman will be presented to child tabla artiste Hemanth Joshi of Dharwad. Felicitation to Col. (retired) Arvind Simha and tabla artiste K. Krishnamurthy.11.30 am: Vocal by Anirudh Aithal (Bengaluru), Pt. Allama Prabhu Kadakola (Savadatti) on tabla and Vignesh Bhagavat (Mysuru) on harmonium.

12.15 pm: Mass tabla performance by the students of S.G.P.  Music School.12.40 pm: Vocal by Sandhya Bhat (Mysuru), Shanmukhaiah Lakkundi on tabla and Meghana Bhat (Mysuru) on harmonium. 2 pm: Mass tabla recital by the students of S.G.P. 3 pm: Karnatak music by Vid. N. Srinath of Mysuru, Vid. A. Radesh (Mysuru) on mrudanga and C.V. Shruthi (Mysuru) on violin.

3.45 pm: Vocal by  Srimathidevi (Mysuru), Basanagouda Patil (Dharwad) on tabla and Vignesh Bhagavat on harmonium.

4.30 pm: Tabla concert by Puttashri awardee Hemanth Joshi accompanied by Deepak Nagannavar on harmonium.

5.15 pm: Singing by Dr. Sumithra Kadadevaramatha, Music Teacher, PPG Music College (Gadag), Pt. Allama Prabhu Kadakola (Savadatti) on tabla and Vignesh Bhagavat on harmonium. 6 pm: Bhairavi Mangala Sangeetha by International Sarod Maestro Pt. Rajeev Taranath accompanied by Bhimashankar Bindanur on tabla.
