Muslim community seeks 10 percent reservation in jobs and education

Mysuru: Muslim community has sought  10 percent reservation in Government jobs and education sector, which is six percent more than the present four percent.

In a Convention organised by the Mysuru Muslim Forum at MCC Grounds in Rajiv Nagar 2nd Stage in city this morning, a memorandum was submitted to MLC C.M. Ibrahim demanding more representation in Local Bodies and Assembly.

They said that the population of the Muslim community had increased over the past 45 years and they were second in the voters list in the State based on which the representation of the community had to be increased in the Local Bodies.

The Forum has demanded the State Government to make way for at least 35 MLAs from the community to be elected to the Assembly in the 2018 Assembly Polls.

They have also demanded the State Government to continue Urdu as one of the third languages in the State, to provide reservation for Muslim community in all 224 Assembly constituencies, to construct compound for the old Muslim Burial Ground located on Basaveshwara Road in city and around 5.38 acre land belonging to Wakf Board at Bommuru Agrahara on  Bengaluru-Srirangapatna Road.

Ameer-e-Shariat Hazrat Maulana Sagheer Ahmed Khan, MLC Rizwan Arshad, Forum Convenor Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Co-Convenor Syed Rehamatullah, Corporators Ayub Khan, Nasiruddin Baig, Suhail Baig, SDPI State President Abdul Majid, former Corporator Anwar Baig and others were present.
