Natl. Meet on Infrastructure & Sustainable Development
Mysuru: A One-day National Conference on ‘Infrastructure and Sustainable Development: Issues and Challenges,’ organised by the Department of Commerce, Management and Economics, was held at Basudev Somani College here yesterday.
University of Mysore Registrar D. Bharathi inaugurated the Conference and said that infrastructure and sustainable development is very prominent in having balanced economic conditions in the country. “We need to understand sustainable development in order to preserve, conserve the resources for future generation,” she said.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. K. Maran, Professor and Director, Sri Sai Ram Institute of Management Studies, Chennai, said that Infrastructure and Sustainable Development are the corner stone of any economy, hence we need to caution in terms of resource exploitation and effective utilisation in the country. He released the book containing research articles on ‘Infrastructure & Sustainable Development: Issues and Challenges.’
Prof. G. Kotreshwar, Department of Studies in Commerce, University of Mysore, speaking as the chief guest, said that intellectual contribution is much needed in order to construct fair infrastructure and sustainable development.
Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Institution of Education Trust H.N. Nagaraj said that business paternity should adopt sustainable strategies as core concept on its vision and by doing so, it can work towards providing better infrastructure and sustainable development to the society.
Principal and Conference Director Dr. M. Mahadevaiah welcomed. Organising Secretary Prof. B.M. Ramesh briefed about the significance of the Conference and spoke about the basic structure of Indian economy.
Conference Secretary Prof. N.S. Venugopal proposed a vote of thanks. Assistant Professor M. Sowmya compered and P. Bhuvanashree rendered invocation.
Institution of Education Trust Managing Trustee Dr. M. Puttaswamy and Trustees Prabha Puttaswamy and N. Guruprasad were present during the occasion.
