MyGreen 2018: Eco-friendly construction, life-style materials expo from June 22

Mysuru: As part of its World Environment Month celebrations, Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysore Centre, is organising its 5th edition of MyGreen 2018, in association with Mysore Builders’ Charitable Trust (MBCT), on June 23 and 24 at its premises on Sterling Theatre Road, Vishweshwaranagar, said BAI Mysore Chairman K. Subramanya Rao.

He was addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday and said that as part of the Environment Month celebrations, already seven programmes had been conducted.

The eco-friendly construction and life-style materials exhibition will be inaugurated by Vishwanath Srikantaiah, a Water Activist and Urban Planner, on June 22 at 6.30 pm at  MBCT premises.

The two-day exhibition will be open to the public on June 23 and 24 from 10 am to 9 pm. It will have over 22 stalls from reputed companies who will be promoting green-related products, he said.

“The main objective of the exhibition is to create awareness among the citizens of Mysuru and motivate them to adapt to a more environment-friendly lifestyle. The Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) and NIE CREST will showcase various concepts of renewable energy,” he said.

Organic Krishi Mela

An Organic Krishi Mela, ‘Santhe’ is also being organised with a display and sale of organic products. Apart from this, a visit to Kukkarahalli Lake to watch the birds, photography exhibition by the citizens, natural history documentary film shows of BBC, live display of organic manure manufacturing are also on the cards, said Subramanya Rao.

The other array of products include home-made toilet cleaning agents, waste management products and innovative technology for tackling wet waste at home by engineering students. The expo showcases manufactured sand, eco-friendly building construction technology, handicrafts, organic food millets, vegetables and greens, seeds and plant nurseries, he said.

A health check-up camp has been organised on both the days (June 23 and 24) for the general public at the premises. The entry to the exhibition is free, he added.  MyGreen 2018 Chairman B.S. Dinesh, World Environment Month Chairman J.V.R. Naidhruva, BAI Hon. Secretary K. Ajith Narayan and MyGreen 2018 Hon. Secretary K.R. Prabhakar Rao were present at the press meet.
