MYMUL Presidential election postponed

August 10, 2019

Mysuru: The poll for electing the President of  MYMUL (Mysore Milk Union Limited), which was scheduled for Friday (Aug.9) has been postponed due to lack of quorum.

The sudden postponement of the election has given rise to speculations that there was a political motive behind it.

The poll was scheduled to take place at 1pm on Friday with the Government nominated Director S.C. Ashok and another Director Mavinahalli Siddegowda contesting for the post.

The candidature of S.C. Ashok, a close relative of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, was proposed by  MYMUL Director A.T. Somashekar. But as the countdown for the poll began, seven out of the 14 MYMUL Directors abstained following which the Returning Officer Umesh postponed the poll to Aug.14 citing lack of quorum. But the political slugfest over the postponement continued with one group of directors backing Mavinahalli Siddegowda, alleging that the Chief Minister himself has taken the initiative to postpone the election in order to install his (CM) close relative S.C. Ashok as the next MYMUL President.

Meanwhile CLP leader and former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has strongly criticised the postponement.

In a tweet, Siddharamaiah alleged that Chief Minister Yediyurappa seems to be intent on making his (BSY) relative  Ashok as KMF Chairman.

Siddharamaiah also accused the CM of acting in haste for appointing Ashok as KMF Chairman, even as the State Cabinet expansion has failed to take place even after 15 days of BSY assuming office as the CM.
