Mysore Jazz Festival tomorrow

Mysuru: The Mysore Music Association and Rotary Mysore along with St. Cecilia’s School of Music in city, have organised ‘The Mysore Jazz Festival’ by the Klaus Graf Quartett from Germany at Rotary Auditorium Phoenix International Academy, next to Mandovi Motors, KRS Road here tomorrow (Oct. 1) at 7 pm, according Association President M. Lakshminarayan. At the event, Klaus Graf will play Saxophone accompanied by Thilo Wagner on Piano, Veit Hubner on Bass and Meinhard Obi Jene on Drums.

Klaus Graf – Alto Saxophone

Klaus Graf has been one of the leading jazz saxophonists in Germany for many years. He studies Jazz at the ‘Musikhochschule Köln’ in Germany and is a member of the legendary four times Grammy nominated SWR Radio Big Band in Stuttgart since 1990. He has performed with world stars like Al Jarreau, Chaka Khan, Dianne Reeves, Phil Collins and many more. Since 2002 he is a Professor for jazz saxophone at the Nuremberg College of Music.

Thilo Wagner – Piano

Thilo Wagner is one of the most important jazz piano players in Germany. His hellishly swinging piano style is one of the best that the German jazz scene has to offer. His breakneck runs with dreamlike “precision landing”, his expressive ballad style and his incredible grooving blues lines inspire audience.

He has toured throughout world and participated in more than 70 CDs together with international Jazz artistes.

Veit Hubner – Bass

Veit Hubner, one of the busiest jazz bassists in Germany, studied classical orchestral music and jazz and popular music at the Universities in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, as well as jazz bass in New York with Marc Johnson and Eddie Gomez. He is a founding member of the music comedy group Tango Five. With “Tales in Tones Trio” he won the renowned Hennessy Jazz Search in 1999.

Meinhard Obi Jenne – Drums

A versatile drummer in German music scene, Meinhard Obi Jene studied classic music at ‘Musikhochschule Trossingen’ and was the co-founder of a legendary European Soul Group called ‘The Wright Thing.’
