Mysterious death of Mysuru woman in Madikeri

Madikeri:  Mystery shrouds the death of a woman from Mysuru, who was living with her paramour in Madikeri and was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at the house in Madikeri.

The deceased woman has been identified as Geetha (32), a native of Kuvempunagar in Mysuru, while her paramour, identified as Gopal of H.D. Kote, who fled from the place, has surrendered at H.D. Kote Police Station.

The incident: Geetha had left her husband about a year ago and was staying with Gopal in Madikeri along with her two children.

The couple stayed happy in the initial days and days went by, Gopal who suspected Geetha used to quarrel with her. On Friday night, Geetha was found hanging at the house and Gopal, who locked the door of the house from outside, left Madikeri and went to H.D. Kote, where he surrendered to the Police. He had reportedly told the H.D. Police that Geetha had committed suicide by hanging and the H.D. Kote Police in turn informed the Madikeri Police about the incident.

Following information from H.D. Kote Police, the Madikeri Police went to the house of Gopal and found Geetha hanging. They conducted mahazar and shifted the body to Madikeri General Hospital for post-mortem.

The parents and relatives of Geetha, who arrived at the hospital, termed the incident as a murder and accused Gopal of committing the murder and later hanged the body of Geetha.

Madikeri Police, who have registered a case in this regard, took custody of Gopal from H.D. Kote Police and have brought him to Madikeri for interrogation.

Geetha leaves behind a daughter and a son and the exact cause of her death would be ascertained only after the post-mortem.
