Mysuru Police to track 600 rowdies, 90 notorious ones

June 8, 2026

Implementation within seven days: DCP (Law and Order)

Mysuru city currently has around 600 rowdy sheeters, including 90 identified as notorious offenders, with the City Crime Branch’s Rowdy Prevention Unit keeping a close watch on their movements.

Officials said even minor disputes among youths are increasingly escalating into group clashes, with several incidents of murder reported in different parts of the city. Rivalry-driven revenge killings between gangs have also shown an uptick  in recent times.

With the formation of dedicated anti-rowdy squads in every Police Station from next week, officials believe enforcement will become more coordinated and effective in curbing such activities.

“Orders have been issued to form Rowdy Squads in every Police Station in Mysuru city under Inspector-level leadership and implementation will be completed within seven days,” said Dr. Harsha Priyamvada, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).

“We are already monitoring the movements of 90 notorious rowdies under our jurisdiction. The City Crime Branch’s Rowdy Prevention Unit is maintaining strict surveillance. The formation of squads in all police stations will further strengthen enforcement,” added Mohammad Sharif Rawther, Assistant Commissioner of Police.
