Mysuru sees a fall in Malaria cases

June 13, 2025

Mysuru:  Mysuru has not recorded a single malaria case in the past eight years, said District Vector Borne Diseases Control Officer Dr. C. Suvarna.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Dr. Suvarna said that while Malaria cases have been found in some people who had travelled to malaria-infected places, not a single case has emerged from Mysuru district.

“We have conducted a thorough survey and found no Malaria cases. The Department has been testing blood samples from at least 15 percent of the people with fever for malaria who come for treatment at OPDs at all Primary Health Centres (PHCs),” she said.

Till date, we have tested 62,664 blood samples with no positive cases recorded. On June 12, a man from Uttar Pradesh was found positive and is being treated at a private hospital, she added.
