Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru District will be getting 100 new ventilators within two days, said District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. T. Amarnath.
Speaking at the Chamaraja Assembly Constituency Covid Task Force Committee meeting held here yesterday, the DHO said that all Taluk Hospitals have three ventilators each. There are 225 ventilators in hospitals including 136 in Government Hospitals, he added.
“Recently, the District Administration had submitted a proposal to the State Government to supply an additional 100 ventilators and the same has been approved. All of them will be installed at Super Speciality Hospital,” he said.
Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) Dean and Director Dr. C.P. Nanjaraj said that the capacity of the Super Speciality Hospital was limited and only 30 new ventilators of the total 100 ventilators could be installed or else new problems such as power supply could crop up.
Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra took up the issue of crowding of people at COVID Ward in K.R. Hospital which was making it a super spreader as for 700 patients, there will be hundreds of their relatives and friends at the Ward. He directed Dr. Nanjaraj to take steps in this regard.
Replying to the MLA, Dr. Nanjaraj said that the Hospital was facing severe shortage of Group ‘D’ employees. People were not coming forward to take up this job and added that he personally visited the ward and dispersed the crowd from the COVID Ward besides warning them.
