Mysuru Winter Festival: 3-day Food and Cake Fest from Dec. 27

Mysuru: As part of the on going 10-day Mysuru Winter Festival, a three-day Food & Cake Mela has been organised from Dec.27 to 29 at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road in city.

Addressing a press meet at the DC’s office here on Saturday, Food & Civil Supplies Deputy Director Dr. K. Rameshwarappa said that District Minister Dr. H.C Mahadevappa will inaugurate the Mela at 11am on Dec.27 in the presence of Food & Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader.

Many Government agencies such as KMF, MyMUL, HOPCOMS, etc. and a host of private hotels, restaurants, caterers, bakeries, chat centres, etc. will be taking part in the three-day event.

The now famous ‘Bamboo Biryani’ prepared by tribal communities will be the main attraction at the Festival, he said and added that food prepared using cereals, millets etc., may also be one of the main charms of the event.

As part of the Food & Cake Fest, cultural programmes will be organised in the evenings (5.30 pm to 10.30 pm) of all the three-days.

Cultural programme: Dec.27 – Nagari Kunitha; Dec.28 – Folk Songs; Dec.29 – Flok Dance (Dollu  Kunita) and Musical Nite.

A cake-eating competition has also been organised as part of the  event.

The competition for boy college students will take place at 4 pm on Dec.27, for women members of the public at 11 am on Dec.28 and for men members of the public at 5 pm on Dec.28 and for girl college students at 11 am on Dec.29, Rameshwarappa said and added that there were also plans to hold the contest for tourists as well.

Tourism Department Deputy Director H.P Janardhan, Mysuru Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda, Mysuru Travels Association President B.S. Prashanth and others were present during the press meet.
