Mysuru youth drowns in River Cauvery

In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old youth met his watery grave when he ventured into River Cauvery at Srirangapatna on Sunday for a swim.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh, son of Narasaiah and a resident of Mandi Mohalla in Mysuru.

It is reported that Suresh, along with six of his friends, had been to Srirangapatna on Sunday and ventured into the waters for a swim but was swept away due to strong currents and drowned.

His body was fished out of the water yesterday and was handed over to his relatives after post-mortem at Srirangapatna Government Hospital.

Srirangapatna Town Police have registered a case.
