National Statistics Day held at ATI

Mysore/Mysuru: Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Bengaluru and Mysuru District Administration jointly celebrated 16th National Statistics Day on June 29 at the Hemavathi Conference Hall of Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysuru.

The National Statistics Day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, the Father of Indian Statistics.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Planning Officer S. Dhanush, who presided, said that statistics plays a major role in carrying out any works. “The statistics provided by various Departments play a major role in functioning and development of several sectors including education, health and nutrition. Right data will help in avoiding great disasters,” he said.

Dr. Navitha Thimmaiah, Associate Professor, Department of Studies in Economics & Cooperation, University of Mysore, who too spoke, gave suggestions regarding different schemes and programmes to be taken up with respect to the education, health and nutrition sectors which are among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals taken up in the National, State and District-levels after going through the exact statistics all over the places along with the comparative studies.

Abdul Nazir Sab State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Joint Director, M.B. Padmashekhar Pande and various Departments’ Directors, Assistant Directors and office-bearers were present.
