State-level rounds on Sept. 7; District-level on Sept. 21; Zonal-level Quiz in Mysuru on Oct. 12
Mysuru: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in partnership with the Department of IT, BT, Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, is organising the Rural IT Quiz across six States in India for school students from class 8 to 12.
The Rural IT Quiz aims at enhancing IT awareness and underlines the importance of technology among rural students, besides keeping them abreast of the latest developments.
This Nationwide quiz will be held across six States — Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The Regional rounds will be held between September – November 2018.
Gaurav Gupta, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, BT, Science & Technology, said “The Rural IT Quiz has been gaining popularity across several States in India. The large participation of students in all the six States is very encouraging.”
In Karnataka, the State-level rounds will be held on Sept. 7 and District-level on Sept. 21. The Zonal-level Quiz will be conducted at 3 locations: Dharwad on Oct. 10, Mysuru on Oct. 12 and Tumakuru on Oct. 16. The Tumakuru Zonal finals will be followed by the Karnataka State Finals in Tumakuru on Oct. 16.
The National Finals of Rural IT Quiz will be held at Bengaluru during November as part of Bengaluru Tech Summit. School students from classes 8 to 12 can participate and there will be no entry fee.
Those interested may contact the District DDPI/DDPU for participation. Students of Schools/PU Colleges in the City Corporation limits of Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Ballari, Davangere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi and Kalaburagi cities are not eligible to participate in the quiz.
All the Regional winners and runners-up will receive TCS education scholarship of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7,000 respectively. The National winners will receive Rs. 1,00,000 and runners-up Rs. 50,000, besides other attractive prizes from TCS.
