Repertory to felicitate nine achievers

Mysuru: With Yuva Sambhrama and Yuva Dasara catering the youth, the theatre buffs in Mysuru will have a gala time at Navaratri Rangotsava – 2019 starting from tomorrow (Sept.29) at Rangayana in city.

This year’s Dasara Theatre Festival, to be held between Sept.29 and Oct.7, will be inaugurated by Kannada and Culture Minister C.T. Ravi on Sept.29 at 6 pm at Bhoomigeeta in Rangayana premises. Kannada and Culture Secretary and Rangayana Director R.R. Jannu will preside. Kannada and Culture Director K.M. Janaki and Senior Theatre Director Prof. H.S. Umesh will be the chief guests. 

As a part of Navaratri ritual, Rangayana will felicitate achievers in various fields during the nine-day festival. Details of the plays to be staged at 6.30 pm everyday and achievers to be felicitated are as follows:

Sept.29: Play ‘Shudra Tapaswi’ by Rangayana (Mysuru). Written by Kuvempu. Directed by C. Basavalingaiah; Felicitation: H.V. Venkatasubbaiah, Bengaluru (Backstage).

Sept.30: ‘Hyder’ by students of Government First Grade College, Mandya. Written by Lingadevaru Halemane. Directed by V. Ranganath and Milan K. Gowda; Felicitation: M.S. Venkatram, Kupya, T. Narasipur (Theatre Music).

Oct.1: ‘Vidisha Prahasana’ based on Kalidasa’s ‘Malavikagnimithra’ by Rangayana (Dharwad). Translation: Siddalingapattana Shetty. Directed by Chidambara Rao Jambe. Felicitation: Purushotham Talavaata, Sagara, Shivamogga (Make-Up).

Oct.2: ‘Kanchugannadi’ by SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru. Written by Usha Narasimhan. Directed by Vikram and Chandini. Felicitation: Senior Theatre Artiste Basaiahswamy Hebbalamath, Hirekumbi, Savadatti, Belagavi.

Oct.3: ‘Madhuvanadalli Nalwadi’ by Nalwadi Social, Cultural and Educational Trust, Mysuru. Written by Ravikiran R. Ballagere. Directed by Dinesh Chemmalige, Mysuru; Felicitation: Hussain H. Shariffnavar, Shishuvinahala, Shiggaon, Haveri (Tatvapada singer).

Oct.4: ‘Yuddha Mugivudaadare?’ by Sri Nataraja Residential First Grade College for Women, Mysuru. Written by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer and Sara Abubakar. Adaptation and Direction by Sharath and Shilpa. Felicitation: Senior Theatre Artiste Chande Nagaraj, Heggodu, Sagara.

Oct.5: ‘Bakaavaliya Hoo’ by St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru. Written by Sudhir Attavara. Directed by Riyaz and Shariff; Felicitation: Neelamma, Mysuru (Social Service).

Oct.6: ‘Arcadiadalli Puck’ by Rangayana Touring Unit, Mysuru. Written by S. Ramanth. Directed by Chandradasan; Felicitation: Nagaveni Shankar, Kolar village, Bidar (Social Service – Education).

Oct.7:  ‘The House of Bernarda Alba’ by Rangayana (Mysuru). Translated by Chandrakanth Kusanoor. Directed by Bhagirathi Bai Kadam; Felicitation: Ekappa R. Chitragara, Koppal (Handicraft – Kinnala Art).
