New DC Office Complex taking shape rapidly on Mysuru-Bannur Road

Mysuru: The construction of the new District Offices Complex at the German Press premises in Siddarthanagar on Mysuru-Bannur Double Road is progressing rapidly with 70% of the works being completed.

The construction works have been taken up by the Karnataka Public Works Department and Ports and Inland Water Transport Department at an estimated cost of Rs. 59 crore (construction of building and civil works) on a 15-acre plot measuring 23,000 sq. ft.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah had laid the foundation stone for the new Office Complex on Aug. 7, 2016 and the construction has been entrusted to Pune-based Shirke Construction Technologies Pvt. Limited, which has completed the works of erecting concrete pillars and the foundation. It has now taken up the construction of the ground, first and second floors.

PWD Executive Engineer Ramakrishna said that though the construction agency has been given a deadline of June 2018, it is expected that the works would to be completed before the deadline.

The building will have a built up area of 23,000 sq. mts with a basement of 9,150 sq. mts, ground floor of 4,720 sq. mts, first floor of 4,500 sq. mts, second floor of 4,550 sq. mts  and parking  area in basement.

While District Registrar’s Office, Treasury and Muzrai Offices will be located on the ground floor, the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office will be on the first floor. Offices of Backward and Minorities Welfare Department, Mines and Geology, Department of Legal Metrology, Fisheries and Excise Departments and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Development Corporation will be located on the second floor.

Along with the construction of the DC Office Complex, the road widening works from Mysuru Milk Dairy Circle in Siddarthanagar up to Bannur Road Junction was also taken up at a cost of Rs. 30.50 crore. The works were taken up by Bapuji Constructions which has completed the works by shifting electricity poles, construction of box culvert pipeline, water pipeline, drainage works and minor bridges.

Mysuru-Bannur Double Road opened for traffic

The asphalting works of the stretch between Mysuru Milk Dairy Circle and Yeraganahalli Circle has been completed and the new Double Road has been thrown open for traffic.
