Mysore/Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah last evening inaugurated the new Police Station buildings at Kavalande, Jayapura and Antharasanthe in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district, at a total cost of Rs. 4.4 crore.

In his address to the Police and the public, the CM underscored the critical role of law and order in the State’s economic growth, urging the Police to enhance intelligence gathering and focus on crime prevention.

Siddaramaiah expressed concern about ongoing shameful practices, emphasising that some powerful individuals erroneously believe they can manipulate the law to commit atrocities against the vulnerable. He urged the Police not to yield to the influence of the wealthy and advocated for proactive measures to prevent crimes.

Acknowledging the challenge of public reluctance to become witnesses, the CM addressed the issue of fake witnesses, contributing to case failures in courts. He called for a more people-friendly approach by the Police, encouraging civil communication and gaining public confidence.

This approach of being more public-friendly will also enhance the department’s respect in the eyes of the people, he added. He also said, for this, Police should speak in a civilised manner and gain the confidence of the public. 

Highlighting the importance of intelligence gathering, Siddaramaiah emphasised its role in preventing crime and strengthening law and order.

Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara praised the Congress Government’s efforts in ensuring a peaceful Karnataka and commended the Karnataka Police for their efficient work.

The event was attended by Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan, Mysuru District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, MLAs Anil Chikkamadu, Ravishankar, A.R. Krishnamurthy, MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah, former MLAs Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Kalale Keshavamurthy, former MP Kagalavadi Shivanna, Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra, Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar and senior officers of the Police Department.
