Coonoor: T. Jayaraman was elected as President of the United Planters’ Association of Southern India (UPASI), Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, for the year 2017-18 at its Annual General Meeting held on Sept. 14.
Jayaraman is an Agricultural Graduate and runs a family business of cultivation and manufacturing of tea with an experience of 38 years. He is the third generation of the family in tea plantations. He has occupied various positions such as Chairman of the Nilgiri Planters’ Association and Planters’ Association of Tamil Nadu. He has served on the UPASI Executive Committee for the past 21 years.
A.E.Joseph, who was elected as Vice-President of UPASI, is the Managing Partner of Alampally Estate, Pasuppara, Idukki District, Kerala. He is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate and runs a family business of cultivation and manufacturing of tea with an experience of 35 years. He is the third generation of the family in tea plantations. He has occupied various positions such as Chairman of Central Travancore Planters Association (CTPA), Association of Planters of Kerala (APK) and Tea Trade Association of Cochin. He has served on the UPASI Executive Committee for 7 years, according to a press release from Ullas Menon, Secretary General, UPASI.
