Mysore/Mysuru: A newly-wed couple, who had got married against the wishes of their parents, have committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree on late Tuesday night near Bilikere in Hunsur taluk. The incident came to light yesterday morning when villagers saw the bodies hanging from the tree.

Residents of the same village, Rakesh and the girl were said to be in love since about two years and their parents on learning about this had opposed their relationship besides advising them.

Even though the elders had advised them, Rakesh and the girl, who were hell-bent on marrying each other, had left their homes on September 2021 and their parents had lodged missing complaints on Sept. 23 and Sept. 29, 2021.
