City’s Abhi Amudhan hogged the limelight by winning a grand double by clinching the men’s singles and doubles titles in the Mysuru Open Badminton Tournament conducted by NIE, during the annual techno-cultural fest, TechNIEK’s 2017, at the NIE Diamond Jubilee Sports Complex recently.

Abhi Amudhan won the men’s singles title beating Manjunath 21-14, 21-12 in the final. In the men’s doubles event, Abhi Amudhan partnering with Ram beat Manjunath and Chandrakanth 21-16, 21-14 and completed a fine double.

Rachana Bopanna won the women’s singles title beating H. Sunayana 21-14, 21-12 in the final. Younis & Vasu won the veteran’s doubles title beating Ram and Chandran 21-16, 21-14 in the final.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by P.K. Ghosh, Assistant Director, IIT (Roorkee) T.N. Sridhar, Controller of Examinations, Dr. G.L. Shekar, Principal, NIE and Dr. G.S. Suresh, Dean Academic Affairs, were the other guests present on the occasion.
