Niranthara Theatre Festival in city from tomorrow

Mysuru: Niranthara Theatre Festival 2021-22 has been organised at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in Ramakrishnanagar here from March 23 to 27 by Niranthara Foundation, Mysuru, in collaboration with the Kannada and Culture Department, Bengaluru.

Eminent theatre troupes and performers from across the State will be performing in this Festival.

Popular Kannada poet H.S. Shivaprakash will inaugurate the programme on Mar. 23 at 5.30 pm. As part of the inauguration, folklore group will perform Puja Kunitha on the same evening.

Jungle Lodges and Resorts Limited Managing Director Manoj Kumar, Income Tax Department Commissioner Jayaram Raipur and Theatre Director Prasad Kundoor will be the chief guests at the event. At the end of the programme, ‘Varasudaara,’ a Kannada play which is penned by Jayaram Raipur and directed by Prasad Kundoor will be staged.

On March 24 at 6.45 pm, Prof. K.C. Basavaraju, retd. Professor, Manasagangothri, will be the guest and the same day, Drushyakavya, a Bengaluru-based amateur theatre troupe, will perform the play ‘Maayaa Bete’ directed by C. Nanjundegowda and penned by eminent playwright K.Y. Narayanaswamy.

On March 25 at 6.45 pm, V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Joint Director, Kannada and Culture, will be the chief guest. At 7 pm, Niranthara Foundation performs the play ‘Saayo Aata’ which is penned by Jnanpith awardee Da.Ra. Bendre and directed by B.K. Kiran and K.Y. Guruprasad.

On March 26 at 6.30 pm, Indira Nair, veteran theatre artiste and Sudesh Doddapalya, senior journalist, will be the chief guests.  Same day at 7 pm, Shivamogga Rangayana will perform Rajappa Dalavayi’s play ‘We the people of India’ directed by K.L. Laxman.

The valedictory ceremony will be held with folklore performance Dollu Kunita on March 27 at 5.30 pm. Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner Dr. D.B. Natesh, Senior Rangayana artiste S. Ramanath, Hongalli Gangadhar of Hasiru Foundation, Bengaluru and M.M. Suguna of Niranthara Mysuru will be the guests on the occasion.

Same day, Udupi Rangabhoomi team will perform Mounesh Badiger’s ‘Vee.Sham.Ke’ directed by Manjunath L. Badiger.
