Mysuru: An actor or an artiste must be able to comprehend the happenings in the society, nature and his surroundings, said renowned Theatre Director K.G. Mahabaleshwara.
He was speaking at the valedictory function of Sahaja Ranga theatre workshop organised by Niranthara Foundation, Mysuru, at Kiru Ranga Mandira in Kalamandira premises, here recently and said that if one has to transform into a very good theatre artiste one has to have the grasp of all the navarasas or nine moods. One has to develop the ease to express these moods.
Theatre will reflect the goings on in the contemporary society and apart from depicting its highs and lows, it is also very important to create awareness among the youth about the subjugation and exploitation of the people, Mahabaleshwara said.
And through such workshops, Niranthara Foundation is doing great work to impart the idea of social obligations and to react to present situations among the youth, he said.
Niranthara’s Prasad Kunduru spoke about the workshop and the play. Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader Badagalapura Nagendra was present.
Later, Sam Andre Samuel play was staged by the trainees. The play was directed by Somashekar Sira and B.K. Kiran while Music was scored by Srinivas Bhat (Cheeni).
