Mysuru: In a first-of-its-kind, the passengers waiting for buses at city bus stop in Kuvempunagar will be able to listen to news and music.

The facility will be inaugurated at this bus stop tomorrow (Jan. 4) at 11 am by MLA T.S. Srivatsa. Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, Akashvani Mysuru Programme Executive Keshavamurthy, C. Ranjith of Technical Division, Kuvempunagar Bus Depot Manager Chethan,  Akashvani Samudyatha Shrotru Balaga (The Dedicated Listeners’ Association of All India Radio) President Kannur V. Govindacharya and others will be present.

Thanks to the initiative of  Akashvani and one of its listeners Bookanakere Vijayendra, a radio will be installed at this bus stop for the benefit of the waiting public who can listen to news, music and other programmes broadcast by Akashvani throughout the day.

The initiative will be  launched under the banner of Samudyatha Shrotru Balaga. This bus stop was constructed by Vijayendra in memory of his father late Hori Subbegowda Bookanakere at Kuvempunagar ‘N’ Block near the KSRTC bus depot.
