Nrithyopasana to conclude tomorrow

Mysuru: A three-day ‘Nrithyopasana-2019,’ organised jointly by Kala Sandesha Pratishtana and Department of Kannada and Culture, commenced yesterday at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha premises on JLB Road here.

Speaking on the occasion, Rangayana Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy opined that accomplishing high goals in performing arts is a tough proposition which needs strenuous effort and practice. He recalled that right from the days of Mysore Maharajas, a special importance was given for cultural sector which gained the tag of ‘Cultural Capital’ for Mysuru.

Inaugurating the programme, Music Exponent Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar observed that ‘Nrithyopasana’ and ‘Nadopasana’ words incorporate music and dance. She asked young artistes to come forward in performing arts.

The inaugural function was followed by Bharatanatyam ‘Marga’ by senior disciples of Pratishtana — Pooja Dev and Dr. Gunasheela Harsha.

They were accompanied by K. Sandesh Bhargav on natuvanga, Vidu. Kanchana S. Shriranjani – vocal, Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy – mridanga, Vid. Narayan – violin and Vid. V.P. Venugopalan – flute.

Pratishtana President Dr. D. Umapathi and others were present during the occasion.

The three-day event will feature a Bharatanatyam ‘Marga’ by young artistes of the Pratishtana today (July 14) at 6 pm at Sri Nadabrahma Sageetha Sabha on JLB Road in city and Dance Feature ‘Vishnupraseeda – Mahishapuravasi’ by senior artistes of various schools of the Pratishtana at Kalamandira tomorrow (July 15) at 5.30 pm.
