NSUI stage protest against holding law exams

August 25, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: The National Student’s Union of India (NSUI), Mysuru district unit, condemning the announcement made by Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) of conducting law exams, staged a protest in front of Gandhiji’s bust, opposite City Law Courts Complex here yesterday.

The protesters said that the University was harassing the students and added that the UGC guidelines clearly states that only final year exams must be conducted and all other students must be promoted without conducting exams. But the KSLU was hell-bent on conducting exams for students of first and second year too, the protesters said.

Pointing out that many students would arrive from various States and districts to take exams, the protests said that the KSLU had not made any arrangements for the law students taking up the exams to stay and added that all Paying Guest (PG) accommodations and hostels are closed due to COVID-19 pandemic, which would cause a lot of inconvenience to the students.

Stating that not even 50% of the syllabus has been completed and many students are yet to clarify doubts about the subjects taken up online, the protesters demanded that the students be promoted based on the marks they had obtained in the last year exams. NSUI District President H.A. Rafiq Ali and others took part in the protest.
