Nutritious food and exercises key for good health: MP

June 23, 2026

Mysuru: “Following a policy of having nutritious food, doing exercises and taking medicines only when  absolutely  needed, is good for leading a healthy life,” observed MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.

He was speaking after releasing the 9th reprint  of Kannada book on Diabetes titled ‘Madhumeha – Manukulada Agochara Shatru,’ co-authored by the city’s noted Diabetologists Dr. V. Lakshminarayan and Dr. Sooraj Tejaswi, at a programme organised at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar here recently.

“India led the world for centuries in culture and traditional systems of medicine. But many ailments and diseases that are currently bothering us are mainly due to the faulty lifestyles and food habits that we are following. The medical field is growing at a fast pace. The benefits of this should be used only when we face health issues and we must not seek medicines even for very minor ailments. Dr. Lakshminarayan and Dr.  Sooraj Tejaswi’s work is very useful in understanding the cause of diabetes and the ways and methods of controlling it,” he pointed out.

Former Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Chairman Prof. Pradhan Gurudatta, who spoke about the book, said, in fact, this can be said as the 12th edition of the book. The first three reprints of the book were brought out  by Bengaluru’s Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi, he noted.

MLA T.S. Srivatsa presided over the programme. Former Kuvempu University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Chidanandagowda, senior journalist Ravindra Bhat, MLC-elect Raghu Kautilya, Chutuku Sahitya Parishat President Dr. MGR Urs, author Dr. V. Lakshminarayan and others were present.
