Mysore/Mysuru: A bike rally was taken out by district-level Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Committee, to create awareness in view of Lok Sabha elections, in city this morning.
An estimated 500 to 600 staff from 39 Government departments, riding about 250 to 300 motorbikes and scooters, participated in the Bike Rally, that was flagged off from Shivarathri Rajendra Circle (Gun House).
A tableau with LED screen fitted on either side of a goods vehicle of MCC, to highlight the significance of compulsory voting also accompanied the rally.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Dr. N.N. Madhu, City Police Commissioner B. Ramesh, Superintendent of Police (SP) Seema Latkar, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) CEO K.M. Gayathri, who is also the Chairperson of District-level SVEEP Committee, Reproductive Child Health Officer (RCHO) Dr. M.S. Jayanth, MCC Environmental Engineer S. Mythri were among the Officials who took part in the rally riding the two-wheelers with enthusiasm.
The rally passed through Maharaja’s Sanskrit Patashala junction, new Sayyaji Rao Road, KR Circle, Government Ayurveda Hospital Circle, Bamboo Bazaar, Abul Kalam Azad Circle (Highway Circle), Nelson Mandela Road, LIC Divisional Office Circle, Fountain Circle, Nexus Mall junction, Mahadevapura Road, Sathagalli, Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Pushpashrama junction before culminating at Kempegowda Circle (Manipal Hospital junction) on Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway.
Earlier, DC Dr. Rajendra said: “It is a festival of democracy and we are conducting several activities to create awareness on voting, with bike rally taken out to attract young voters.”
Gayathri said: “We want to increase voting to 100 percent, hence we have been continuously organising several awareness activities. As a part of which we have organised bike rally involving the staff of various departments.”
