One dead, five injured in mini bus accident at Hanur

August 11, 2018

Hanur, Kollegal taluk:  In a ghastly accident, one woman died and five people sustained grievous injuries when the mini bus in which they were travelling lost control and turned turtle. In all, there were 26 people in the bus.

The accident was so severe that the woman Ammanni Akka, whose hand was severed, later succumbed to the injuries  while she was being taken to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru. The other person whose hand was severed was that of driver Manju and he is being treated in K.R. Hospital.

The incident occurred this morning when the bus was moving towards Mahabetta on the Hanur-Ellemala road. The injured belonged to B.G. Pura village in Belakavadi taluk.

First they were all taken to Kollegal  Government Hospital in ambulance. The other four who are injured and being treated in the Government Hospital are Nagamani, Lakshmi, Kamalamma and Shivananjamma.

Inhuman act

In what is a truly inhuman, callous and cruel act, the remaining people in the bus just took other buses and left to the Mahabetta.

The mini bus was carrying 26 persons including the driver when the accident occurred at around 8 am. Six people were grievously injured and they were all lying on the road.

It is said that the remaining 20 people, all from the same village of B.G.Pura, who were lucky to escape with minor injuries did not even bother to attend to the injured victims who were writhing in pain. They just caught the buses going towards Mahabetta, leaving the injured to fend for themselves and everyone who saw them leave the place, were stunned with this callous show of attitude.
