May 13, 2021

Bengaluru: One lakh vaccines are  being kept reserved daily for admi-nistering second dose. Online registration for second dose will be introduced to avoid queuing up near the vaccine centres, said Deputy Chief Minister and State COVID Ministerial Task Force Chairman Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan.

Replying to a query after the launch of O2forIndia initiative, he said administering second dose for those above 45 years of age is done on priority basis. About 70 percent of the vaccines are being utilised for administering second dose. The Technical Committee has been requested to consider about extending the duration of administering the second dose.

Care for those who are in home isolation for COVID infection will be given priority and there is enough stock of 5 lakh home isolation kits and there is no shortage for RT-PCR kits and RAT kits, he replied to a question.

To reduce delay in giving results, priority will be given for the testing of symptomatic cases and primary contacts. Tests for asymptomatic patients will be discouraged and triaging will be augmented, he said.
