Online fraud: Head Constable among three cheated of Rs. 7.91 lakh

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, a Head Constable is among three persons in city, who have lost Rs. 7,91,220 to online fraudsters.

In the first case, a Head Constable, who was asked to update his bank account and credit card by downloading Quick Support App, has been cheated of Rs. 48,000.

Mohammed Attar, the Head Constable attached to Saragur Circle Inspector Office is the one who has been cheated. A fraudster, who called Mohammed on his mobile phone, asked him to update his bank account and credit card details by installing Quick Support App.

As soon as Mohammed downloaded the App and entered the One Time Password (OTP), Rs. 48,000 was immediately transferred from his bank account.

In the second case, 27-year-old Apoorva Lakshman, a resident of Saraswathipuram, received a call on her mobile phone, where the caller told her that she had won a prize, which would be given to her if she shopped for Rs. 5,000 online.

The caller later got a total of Rs. 6,05,618 transferred from her account, thus cheating her.

In the third case, 27-year-old S. Sushmitha, a resident of Mahadeshwara Layout, who was looking for a part-time job, received a call, where the caller told her to register by clicking on the link, sent to her phone.

After registering her name, the caller got Rs. 1,37,602 transferred from her account and gave her a few tasks to do. After completion of the tasks, Sushmitha neither received the money nor got wages for completing it.

City’s Cyber, Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police, who have registered separate cases, are investigating.
