Operation Chamundi launched

May 14, 2017

Following the chain-snatching incident atop Chamundi Hill, K.R. ACP Mallik launched ‘Operation Chamundi’ along with more than 50 Police personnel and checked the vehicles proceeding towards the Hill and vehicles going from the Hill.

The incident has happened at a time when the district authorities, along with the City Police are proposing to strengthen security measures on the hillock to prevent crimes. There is a proposal to install entry/exit gates and CCTVs at all vantage points to identify movement of suspicious persons. There are four entry and exit points to the Hill and these places are unguarded and are open to public round  the clock.

The Police are also planning to ban the movement of vehicles to the Hill from 10 pm onwards to prevent illegal activities. Delay in taking up security measures has helped miscreants take advantage of the situation.
