Traditional seeds
Traditional seeds have been faithfully reproduced and handed down from generation to generation, which have unmatched richness of flavour, nutritional benefit, and resistance to pests and diseases.
Conserving diversity on-farm is a farmer-based initiative, as it provides healthy environment, enhances biological wealth and retains germplasm within the farming communities. Managing agro-biodiversity is crucial for food security especially in marginal areas, where locally adapted crops are resistant to drought and make it possible to cope with adverse conditions.
Capacity-building training on various aspects of organic seed production, agronomy, business skills, and marketing is key to successful enterprise development, according to a press release from G. Krishna Prasad, Director, Sahaja Samrudha.
