Mysore/Mysuru: Activists of Christians Progressive Organisation (Christhara Pragatipara Samsthe), in association with All India Human Rights organisation staged a silent protest yesterday by holding placards and demanded stringent punishment to the culprits who had raped and paraded a woman naked in Manipur and restoration of Law and Order.

They strongly condemned the atrocities inflicted on the minority tribal Kuki community including women and the burning of more than 250 Churches in Manipur.

They regretted that more than 150 people lost their lives due to the ongoing violence in the region and demanded that President’s rule be imposed in the State immediately. Incidents in last four months at Manipur have lowered the dignity of India, they alleged. 

President of the Christians Progressive Organisation Jnanaprakash, Hon. President Vinod Chacko, Patron Purushotham, Vice-President  Paulballi Graham, Rajanikant, Joint Secretary Vinod, organiser Chandrashekar, SDPI leader Rafat Ullah Khan and others participated in the protest.

Meanwhile, activists of Kannadambe Rakshana Vedike also staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue at Gandhi Square yesterday, saying that the incident and the continuous violence that is going on unabated in Manipur has lowered the image of India at the international level.

The protestors urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene, ensure stringent punishment to the rapists and demanded the dismissal of Manipur Government for its failure to maintain Law and Order in the State.

The protestors also urged the Karnataka Government to immediately order a probe by Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the rape and murder of Sowjanya.

Vedike President Rajashekar led the protest. Leaders Kumar, Kikkeri Kiran, Lokesh, Pradeep, Nanjunda, Suresh and others participated in the protest.
