February 27, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: With an intention of ensuring a healthy and safe life full of energy, the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru, had organised a one-kilometre ‘speed walkathon’ for parents of children studying in the school this morning. Students also were part of the event and both girl and boy students were wearing NCC uniforms.

The event was flagged off by MLA L. Nagendra. Over 100 parents took part in the walkathon which was held at a park in Vijayanagar First Stage, opposite Sri Yoganarasimha Swamy Temple.

Speaking after inaugurating, Nagendra said, “It is a good development where parents are enthusiastically participating in sports along with their children. Apart from education, these programmes help build a great rapport and bond between children and parents.”

The walkathon was separately organised for men in two categories (30 to 40 years, 40 and above) and for women in three categories (25 to 35, 36 to 45 and 46 and above). Caps, tokens and chest numbers for all the participants were distributed during registration.

The winners will be announced tomorrow (Feb. 28) and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on Mar. 19. The cash prizes for the winners in each age category will be Rs. 3000 (first prize),  Rs. 2000 (second) and Rs. 1000 (third).
