Mysore/Mysuru: Over six thousand eligible candidates from Mysuru district alone appeared in the first session of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the Department of Public Instruction this morning.
The TET exam is being conducted across the State for the recruitment of teachers for Classes 1 to 8.
In all, 6,453 out of the registered 7,136 candidates appeared in Paper 1 which was held for Primary Classes 1 to 5 in the morning session. 683 candidates were absent. The exam was held between 9.30 am and 12 noon at 27 centres in city.
The Paper 2 test will be held at 38 centres for Higher Primary Classes (6 to 8 std.) from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. A total of 10,102 teacher aspirants had registered for exams at Mysuru Centres.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Ramachandra Raje Urs inspected eight exam centres across city this morning.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, the DDPI said that prohibitory orders in 200 mts radius around the exam centres has been imposed as a security measure for smooth conduct of exam. “The Department has deputed Assistant Commissioners of seven Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Zonal Offices and three officers of other Departments as Nodal Officers to supervise the exam. Besides, Sitting Squads are visiting all the exam centres,” he said adding that CCTV cameras are installed at all exam centres. One Health Department staff is deployed at all the centres to meet any health emergencies.
Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will have 150 questions of one mark each. Candidates need to secure at least 60 percent marks, that is 90 out of 150 marks in order to qualify. TET certificate will be valid for seven years from the date of declaration of result.
