August 8, 2018

Bengaluru:   The State Government will build over a lakh houses across the State under the Chief Minister’s Scheme.

Announcing this at a press meet on Aug. 6, Housing Minister U.T. Khader said that 60,000 houses will be built in City Municipal Council (CMC) and Town Municipal Council (TMC) jurisdiction, while over 45,000 houses will be built in Bengaluru.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will launch the scheme at Hubballi on Aug.12. North Karnataka districts will get 22,000 houses out of the 60,000 houses and the houses will be built in a span of nine months.

Pointing out that SC/ST beneficiaries of this housing will have to bear only 30 percent of the cost, while the Central Government will pay 30 percent and the State Government 40 percent, Khader said that as far as General Category beneficiaries are concerned, the State Government will fund 20 percent                      and the Central Government 30 percent, while the rest 50 percent has to be borne by the beneficiaries.
