Passengers urge MP Pratap Simha to reintroduce Mysuru-Karwar train

February 6, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that there is no Railway link between Mysuru and coastal Uttara Kannada district, members of Mysuru Railway Action Forum (Mysuru Railway Horata Vedike) have urged MP Pratap Simha to re-introduce train service between Mysuru and Karwar.

The members met the MP at Jaladarshini Guest House here on Friday and submitted a memorandum in this regard. The memorandum said that the Mysuru-Karwar train and other trains which linked the two cities, which were stopped following the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, have not been re-introduced.

Noting that the introduction of train to Karwar via Mangaluru will hugely help in promoting tourism, he said that the train will be beneficial to thousands of people who undertake pilgrimage trips to places such as Kukke Subramanya, Mangaluru, Udupi, Gokarna, Murudeshwara etc.

Speaking after receiving the memorandum, Simha maintained that he had put in a lot of efforts for the introduction of the train when he became the MP  for the first time. But his efforts hit a roadblock due to the pandemic, he said and assured that he will take up the matter once again with the Railway Ministry.

Vasudev Bhat of Vijaya Vittala Educational Institutions, Hoteliers Mahesh Kamath, Nagesh, Ravi Shastri and Raghuveer Puranik, Tulu-Madhwa Brahmins Association President Jagadish Hebbar Kaarija, Havyaka Sangha’s Rakesh Bhat, Byari Sangha’s Abdul Hamid Ansari, Bunts Sangha’s Karunakar Rai, leaders Raghavendra Hegde, M.K.
