Mysuru-based amateur M.S. Yashas Chandra (64-70) won the PGTI’s Pre-Qualifying III for the 2018 season as he topped the leader-board at 10-under-134 at the end of the second and final round on Jan.14 and 15 at Kensville Golf and Country Club near Ahmedabad.
A total of 25 players qualified from Pre-Qualifying III for the Final Qualifying Stage as five players were tied in 21st position when the cut was declared at three-over-14.
Yashas Chandra’s second round of two-under-70 featured five birdies and three bogeys.
Gurgaon’s Lakshya Dev Mudgil (73-67) finished a distant second at four-under-140.
All the qualifiers from the Pre-Qualifying Stage will now join the 49 exempt players in the Final Stage which is scheduled to be held from Jan.17 to 20, at the Kensville Golf & Country Club. The 72-hole Final Stage event will feature a field of 131 players.
The top 80 and ties will make the halfway cut after two rounds of the Final Stage. At the end of the Final Stage, the top 36 players will earn their full cards for the 2018 PGTI season.
